The Chocolate Trail

The Chocolate Trail celebrates the rich, indulgent side of exploring Western Australia’s South West and Great Southern — discovering artisan chocolatiers, roasted treats and decadent flavours from one remarkable maker after another.

Starting in Donnybrook with Solarfruit’s Chocolate Coated Dried Plums, bringing deep fruit richness with a touch of tartness and a beautifully chewy texture, these are a delicious surprise.

Then through Bunbury to stop in at Nougat & Nice to collect their Chocolate Almonds for a satisfying crunch and a touch of vanilla, and on to Busselton for Chocolate-infused Raw Honey from Wedderburn Honey.  It's rich, smooth and perfect drizzled over desserts, fruit or just by the spoonful.

A bit of a detour through Dunsborough where Chocobee makes their really unique Honey Whipped Chocolate.  We've included their best-selling Dark Chocolate Cherry Delight, an incredibly smooth and decadent creation that blends rich chocolate with luscious cherry notes.  This is one that surprised even us.

And then back on the road through Cowaramup, cow-country, and the heartland for all things chocolate.  That's where Bahen & Co make their stone-ground chocolate using traditional techniques so we had to include their chocolate coated Roasted Caramel Hazelnuts and Dark Red Cherries.

Temper Temper is also in Cowaramup as well as Margaret River.  It's a magical world with twinkling lights and the full chocolate experience.  Their Chocolate Coated Coffee Beans are the best and grab a coffee while you're there.

Now we head off on one of the best drives in the country, through national parks and karri forests where we find A Bit on The Side at the Denmark Good Food Factory.  We've picked our favourite pairing for true chocolate lovers — Chocolate Grandmarnier Sauce and Chocolate Dukkah. Warm the sauce gently, then dip biscuits or drizzle generously over ice cream and desserts before finishing with the dukkah for a layered chocolate experience that feels both decadent and a little ‘Nigella’.

But, because we really want to add something in that is both inspired and special, from nearby Youngs Siding, we've found Chocconutz and their artisan nut butter range.  So, in goes their Roasted Almond Chocolate Butter which is dangerously moreish and very versatile as a spread, dessert or for breakfast.   

And after all that, probably the next stop in the trail is to find a quiet place overlooking Greens Pool there all the goodies can be laid out ready for a chocolate picnic like no other.

Please be mindful of the heat if choosing this hamper in summer.  We will also keep an eye on the weather forecast to determine the best day to post your order if it's been particularly hot and will put on a sticker that asks the courier to leave it in the shade or, if posted, take it to the nearest Australia Post office.
